Would you like to join our long-standing Cooperative in Cromford? We’re looking for someone to manage the packing and distribution of our beautiful eco diaries, calendars and journals, providing exceptional customer service to our very loyal following.

You will be a self-starter, meticulously organised and capable of carrying full boxes up and down stairs. You will have a driving licence, your own car and laptop. This is a self-employed role, paying £19.25 per hour. Hours vary every month, although we anticipate you’ll earn around £10,000 per year from our work. Busy times are June and July, and then September to January each year.

Distribution Manager – orders, dispatch and delivery

  • Become a member of Earth Pathways Cooperative
  • Check stock of eco packaging a month before diary and calendar stock delivery, and order as required (usually June/July)
  • Take delivery of diary and calendar stock at the office and store safely (usually June/July)
  • Take delivery of Journals as required, (not time-specific)
  • Regular use of IT systems (Google Suite, Woo Commerce, Etsy, Faire, Click and Drop) to manage orders and liaise with team
  • Carefully package and post goods out to team, contributors, trade and public (asap after delivery/order placed)
  • Regular check for packaging stock as required and re-order if necessary (usually monthly)
  • Regular check for stock monthly and reorder if necessary.
  • Increase postage frequency (x2/wk – x3/wk) early November
  • Increase postage frequency (x3/wk – on demand) late November
  • Relax frequency (on demand – x2/wk) mid January.
  • Monthly meetings on Google Meet with rest of team
  • Contribute towards the Annual General Meeting
  • Liaise with Landlord re infrastructure.
  • Be a key holder for the office 
  • Support and make any improvements necessary to streamline efficiency 

About you

You will be a self-starter and organised, practical and enjoy working with processes. You’ll be happy working on your own from our office in Cromford, and getting together with our team from all over the world on Google Meet. 

You will have a driving licence and a car for delivery of orders to the Post Office, and your own laptop with two USB ports (for simultaneous use of scales and printer). 

Some lifting and carrying is required as part of the role and you’ll be capable of carrying full boxes up and down stairs. 

You will be, or will be prepared to be self-employed and responsible for your own tax and national insurance contributions. Full handover will be arranged between appointment and November 24, with support from the current post holder who will be retiring. You will be working independently over some of the summer period when our current post holder will taking holiday.
